hey guys,
i produce in cubase 5, i want to connect my DJM-800 so i can use the effects and such in real time with cubase. How can I do this?

Hey there.

You need a spare set of inputs and outputs on your sound interface (if you want to run the effects in stereo).

Then you need to set up the effect in Cubase's hardware interface - just select the relevant input and output channels.

Now you'll be able to select the effect in your dropdown list, same as all the other effects.

You'll only be able to apply the effect to one sound/ group of sounds at a time, and at some point you'll probably want to record the incoming audio, so you don't always have to set the effect up in the DJM-800 whenever you play the song.

Good advice but the last part isn't right - you can do an insert on the master channel (at least you can in logic). Otherwise create a "sub master" group with every track routed to it and then have the insert on that sub master channel send to the DJM, and patch the insert back in to the sub master insert return and then the outpir of the sub master to the master channel.

one thing to note, the DJM is really only good for DJ style effects, like an obvious filter/phaser sweep or chopper - the reverb and other such effects are crap compared to vst offerings.
