Help making my trance set sound like ASOT, Mainstage, etc...

So I've recorded a 1 hour set and now it is in MP3 format. Does anyone know how I can edit my set to be perfectly leveled and added bass to sound like ASOT and all those other trance dj's mixes? I noticed the tracks sometimes you buy does not sound like how they sounded on the radio... rather dull and not really enhanced. Any tutorial, tips, or an easy way to do this? Thanks much.

Not trying to hate or anything, but that's pretty ridiculous as these are HUGE budgets and the absolute pinnacle of the genre, they have the cash. You are basically asking to learn every secret of the trade in one go.

Not true.

All you need is a decent signal path (so sound source, dj mixer and soundcard should be of good quality). If you don't have those you won't get there.

After recording the mix you should multiband process it like they do on radio stations and you're set.

What u hear are called "dynamics" i know this is a bit of a dirty word for most of you, but you should try to embrace them rather than squash them away. there is nothing appealing to a 1 hour MP3 brick like ASOT....... but if you really want to, just squeeze the MP3 through your favorite limiter like 10x in a row, if you still can see space inbetween the waveform, do it another 10x times. repeat until you can no longer see the background in your wave editor

Lol, but not far off the truth.

TBH, ASOT is probably all done offline in ableton or logic, then processed with multiband compression and limited, and then finally sent as a wav for broadcast. The stations will then in turn add their own effect train:

Usually start with auto gain control, then a traditional broadcast compressor like the old Orban 424's (for most FM applications), then a mulitband compressor, and then a limiter to catch any random peaks and finally they may even overdrive (clip it a little) to drive it louder.

Oh and they may also have other processors somewhere in the chain like phase correctors and stereo enhancers.

And bear in mind the mics and or DJ mixer might be runb through a compressor before it even gets recorded.

You still sure you want your mix to sound like ASOT?

It differs a lot per studio and tecnnician. The first radio studio I worked in was set up by a purist. Not too much compression on anything but presentation.

The second one was set up to process the sound somewhat. Quite hard compression, which is usual.

The third is the one I'm responsible for setting up ever so often and keeping it in production. It expands and limits the signal beyond imagine. The setup is almost idiot proof, channel gains can almost be ignored, which is good. The people that work that particular desk usually don't have any experience whatsoever and it has to sound like the real deal.

Sticking a compressor on the final output to add a touch of warmth and glue it a little bit more is expensive now? Come again?

I do that to my tracks and nothing sounds like ASOT.

If all he wants are the dynamics gone then that's that.
