Hello! New Derrick May interview

He makes a few obvious statements; and says a few things i don't agree with. But it's better then alot of the stuff on youtube. Interviews with some of the original pillars of edm genres are often some what interesting i'd say. Thought i'd share.

And May isn't one of them. How many records has he put out in the past 15 years? Oh right, NONE, excepting his remixes on a System 7 LP.

Derrick May has to be one of the biggest, most egotistical, shit-talking blowhards in Techno; still riding his successes from two decades ago. Yes he's a pioneer, yes, he can be an excellent DJ, but he's one of the last people I'd look to for credible input when it comes to production or "the scene".

Wow. So much anger. I myself don't actually know much about May. My interests are normally more so house inclined. Know he hasn't produced in forever. I imagine he must be a pretty decent dj with pretty interesting taste in music. Either that or he has a really good marketing agency behind him. if any one cares to share a decent dj set by him i'd appreciate it.

Yeah, this interview is bullshit. His musical, soft-spoken voice conceals what are actually some very opinionated and egotistical remarks.

"They're only making music because they have the software."

And why did they get the software in the first place, genius? Who is he to question another's reasons for making music? Notice that he never actual reveals what the "legitimate" reason to make music is; the one that he apparently cracked several years ago.

Haha yea, I pretty much feel like most EDM-related journalism is just a way to cash in. It can be really stupid at times.

There's not much journalism going on in the scene these days. Most of it is advertisement.

especially after sampling some of his old rhithm is rhithm (spelling). As if acid house has a sense of romance. Strings Of Life = romantic. 303, handclaps, and cowbells, not so much.
