deeper meaning of electronica

alright...here's the backstory to these. A few weeks ago I was at a party, and me and a buddy of mine (blue neon from ta) were all high and stuff...and we sat down in front of the boombox, popped in Digweeds MMII...and got lost in the music. Anywho, by about the 5th song, I took out my cellphone and wrote a text message to him (he was sitting across from me, but thats beside the point) and the message I wrote was what my sig is now;

To understand the deeper meaning of electronic music, one must acheive a higher state of mind, easily attainable through the use of mind-altering substance's.

Next, a week later...I'm at another friends party...feel a really nice buzz, and write this up;

People who listen to electronic music conciously are blinded from the meaning

This doesn't mean that you need drugs to understand it...but you cant just listen to whats presented on the outside.

And lastly...from this saturday;

The very essence of electronica is hidden from us. It's right in front of our eyes, yet we can't see it. The red pill will show us the matrix of the "ecstasy".

God, don't ask about that last one...I was completely gone. I can't understand it myself now.........but anywho...just thought I'd share.

dude...when i'm high and listen to electronica (trance, house, breaks) then I honestly think up of some crazy shit. Lately i've been writing down on what comes to my mind when i solely focus on the music. Its crazy

yeah, I know that feeling. I found that it maybe because the track is someone tied to something that might get you depressed...a lost love, perhaps?

Yeah, I have had the same feeling before. Trance makes me think a lot...and based off that, i'll either be happy or sad.

And when you can do it without the drugs, so the mind 'clicks over' when the music starts, then you'll be at a whole different level...
A state of nature altered-consciousness...that's a trip...(and personally, one I've found more powerful that any substance that could help me)

My sentiments exactly. The strange thing with this music is, when you first experiment with the drugs, they seem to accentuate the beats, rhythm, and melody. But take yourself off the drugs for a little while, and listen to the music, and I mean really listen. You'll find that the music stands for something in of itself, and the drugs were not really enhancing much of anything. Rather, they were only the beginnning. You get the chills and the rush without the bitter taste in your mouth. That's when you really start to "get it".

These DJ's don't simply make music for people to listen to only when people are fu&*ed up. Most DJ's would like you to appreciate what they spin without always being tweaked out or whatever the listener is on. Of course, not all DJ's give two shites about the state you're in, but I know that some would like you to appreciate the music and meaning behind the music while you're sober as well.

That being said, here's some of my most treasured quotes while being completely twisted upside down on late nights:

"Da hell you saying to me Santa Bunny?"
"I can't believe the all the misunderstanding of the nonsense being unspoken while listening to trance!"
"Be careful of the snow outside. Don't mess it up!"
"Stop cocking gay talk!"
"That was not a fucking leprechaun. Was it?"
"What was I talking about?"
"I want my mullet-loving lesbian lover now!"
"Seriously, what was that guy doin' on stage with all those records? Where's the band?"
"'Take the blue pill. Take the red pill.' Ah fuck it, take 'em both and shut the hell up!"
"It was so deep, that experience we just experienced. What an experience to experience. Am I repeating myself?"

Pretty deep, huh?

Yeah, trance should expand your mind by itself. You may use drugs to help it, but that's not the point.

It's not the music that changes when you're stoned - that's you (pretty obvious, I know, but let me go on). You'll realise that you were just paying more attention to the vibe - if you learn to do it without chemical help, then you know what trance really is...

I don't know what I've just said, I don't do drugs, I just felt like posting something

Hmm

Having been on both sides of the spectrum... I've been totally fucked up before on substances, but am 100% clean now for almost 2 years... I agree with what has been said about how drugs don't change the music, but they change you.

I think that, I would grow out of trance once I got free of drugs. I thought that progressive would become dead boring... but that's not the case -- I love every bit of it even more.

Trance is for any state of mind...but to be tranced out without being on drugs...that's the true essence of the music.

Cheers
