Dress code: Upscale dress. Gentlemen must wear a collared, button-up shirt and dress shoes at the Nightclub.
Taken from the club's website. Sorry but Marquee has succeeded at big name mainstream bookings, not much more. Congratulations on having rich investors and finding the 2010 Top 100 DJ Poll.

It's an easy way to enforce a dress code...otherwise you'll get the types wanting to come in wearing sandals or dirty ass sneakers.

+1 you can dance with dress shoes
P.S. dancing is overrated at those clubs, you're supposed to slug grey goose around and check the lolitas.

i understand about the dresscode some places wanna keep it proper
but when you book a solid dj who makes you wanna dance all night
dress shoes are the worst, but again its all part of the club politics
as for someone wearing sandals lol thats up to managment or the doorman for letting them in
i certainly wouldnt show up to a club with sandals unless i was coming from electric zoo or some outdoor festival all day long

Been to plenty of good parties where dress shoes were required. But the collar button up shirt (although I have no problem wearing one and often do) being required is somewhat dumb. The only reason I referenced their dress code is because it's one of many indications this club's priorities are not good music.

Check out the dancefloor in this place, it's like 10% of the size of the bottle service areas. They actually do book a decent dj or two sometimes but it's just by default because there happen to be a couple in the top 20 of the DJ Mag poll...
I'm not just picking on the place but the OP was just stupid. "Often immitated but never duplicated.....". The place isn't even 2 years old. Their "Marathon" is a bunch of mainstream picks that will probably play 2 hour sets.

lol, you may as well have dress code as indeed, there is no room to bust out. Great place for the dj and great for the booth bit*** but not the best place for what many of us are used to, even at our reg clubs.
Kudos to the promoters making it easier for TAs and the like to bypass huge lines, however.
