I cancelled with Bell from my parents restaurants last week. They asked why I was cancelling, and I asked if they wanted to hear the blunt reason or the real reason?
I told them I wasn't willing to support a company that promotes a monopoly/duopoly along with Rogers and charges the highest prices for the poorest service in the 30 most developed nations in the world. I went on a little and the dude didnt have much to say.
I got another call yesterday from them and was asked if it was true if I had cancelled with them, and was asked why again.
I then said I was responsible for holding a protest/rally with Jack Layton in february in Toronto against Bell's monopolistic ways of implementing UBB with a ridiculous 25gb cap on every ISP. I've got some integrity in me and will not support bell any more for screwing the canadian consumer. Its unfortunate that Bell sees canadians as simple dollar signs and the only person who gave enough of a damn about the issue to take it to parliament was Jack Layton and now hes dead.
God damn, felt so fucking liberating giving them a piece of my mind. I hope both those call centre drones quit their job. I'd feel like a scumbag working for Bell or Rogers. Hell, I felt like an asshole last year having worked in marketing doing rogers promotional material when they were a client. I dont ever want to promote any of their bullshit again.
That said, I'm signing up with Teksavvy in a month at the restaurant. I'm still waiting to ditch Bell at home but am waiting on the final results of the UBB hearings. I have a 300gb cap with Bell at home (grandfathered plan) and do not want to lose it if I switch to teksavvy if Bell wins their UBB case. It doesnt matter at the restaurant since the cap was set to 25gb anyway, I actually gained 275gb/month at least for the time being, but hopefully permanently.
Not sure if anyone mentioned, but Yak isnt bad either, theyve got some plans where they charge under $30/month for 2mbit connection.
