Although there is big money put into many of the clubs there, which are quite nice, they all seem to end up with the same unfriendly club layout that caters to only bottle service. The closest club that could be considered a "clubbers club" IMO is RAIN.
The DJ's are, as mentioned, essentially the same 5-10 DJs. They all specialize in cheese, and bring a particular brand of cheese along with them for their vegas gigs. How many labor day weekends is Morillo going to play. Although Ibiza has its resident DJs, the variety is far superior than what vegas offers.
Not to mention the vibe, which comes nowhere close to that in Ibiza. Vegas mainly consist of ignorant tourist looking for a fuck buddy.
Perhaps some of the promoters should brush up on clubbing history and perhaps visit the magic island prior to making such claims.
Should we even mention the locals in vegas? I couldnt come up with worse music if I looked all year long for it. Its all the same, and its so bad it has ruined many nights with high hopes.
HOWEVER, the ladies are much better looking in vegas than Ibiza. Even the fat and ugly chicks look great in vegas...Im just sayin.
As far as clubbing goes, not even close.

If you want to hear some quality dance music in America head to LA. That last Digweed show had a vibe that Vegas will never be able to attain. |
And it was great to see you and Jordan S. out there. I rarely get out much, but couldnt miss a show of that caliber.
Well put in regards to vegas. Sad to hear you have had to move back. I'll admit that ICE did have something special. I was there from 2003-2005 every big weekend and those are some of the best vegas trips I have recorded.

People's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter they must be constantly bombarded with hits and anthems to hold their attention. To me going to see a DJ I go for the story that his set is going to tell. That's what was taught to me as a young DJ back in the day, a progression of sound over time is what makes a DJ good. Most of the DJs out here are playing the popular records that you hear on the radio with a 4 beat behind it. Mashups are everywhere. To each their own I suppose and Vegas has always been a tough city for supporting any dance music. I used to play prog and tech at a club on the regular out here and in the beginning it was good, but towards the end I always got told to play electro and vocals. Most people/tourists that go to clubs out here don't know anything about dance music. It's in the promoters best interest to keep the sheep happy.

There are some good DJs in Vegas for sure but yeah the vibe is completely different. Vegas is all about pop hits, parties, anthems, etc.
Ibiza is the place where DJs try out new sounds and play epic sunrise sets for true music lovers. When I was in Ibiza, the crowd would be into anything the DJ played, regardless of whether they recognized it or not. It was amazing. No scrutiny, just enjoyment. Totally different from Vegas.
For EDM, I would take Ibiza over Vegas any day. That being said, I do think Marquee is an awesome new EDM club.
