kiddies that can rock the decks

man... i threw a houseparty this past weekend and invited a buncha people over... so this one dude comes over with his records, we're gonna let him spin.

i didnt know him at all.. 16, cool kid, looks even younger. so he gets up on the decks and proceeds to straight up tear it the F*KK up for 2 hours. aaaamazing. genre changing and everything... house, dnb, jungle, techno, some unclassifiable stuff.. then he starts dropping a few ska/punk rock tracks... even beat and phrased matched!! i've yet to see a amateur DJ that can phrase and beatmatch rock like it's electronica... then recover back into electronic stuff without a hiccup.

is it just me or is it fairly amazing to watch a 16 year old just go ballastic behind the decks? i wish i started spinning earlier when my mind was so fresh and clean!!

peace,
-mer

wow..its amazing how much quicker the mind can learn at a younger age. I think parents should buy their children 1200's instead of videogames and make them learn to mix right after they learn to ride a bike. HAHA...just kidding

My little brother is 15 years old, and he is just about as good (or as bad, suit yourself) as I am.

At first he disgusted trance and all that music (he was a true R&B and Hip-Hop lover), and now he spins progressive & tek-house.

God, I'm so fucking happy that he is off R&B now... No offence to the R&B-lovers though.

And no, he does not wet his pants anymore...

mixing rock music is very hard as all songs are in different keys. the DJ in Corporation (a rock night club) is amazing at mixing this sort of music, as well as hip-hop etc. it sounds awesome when he mixes cuz he does it perfectly each time. wish i cud mix that sort of music

i'm 17 and have been spinnin for almost 10 months. fuck video games, can super mario brothers take you on a journey, or let the fans (clubbers) fall into a realm of euphoria because of what the player (dj) is doing? TRANCE IS LIFE.......all of lifes emotions evolve with trance...happy,sad,rejoice,mad,or bla(chill). if i never started spinnin' i would be a drug addicted bastard. all of my friends started using hard drugs at the same time i started mixing, so i practice many hours a day to stay out of the drugs way.

peace,
beatnik
