Like the RIAA will stop us........it will fail just like their copy proof cd's. The RIAA is getting crazy and even artists that are supporting them.......are leaving them. See planning is one thing, making it work without problems and holes is another thing. As dmx stated in his famous ruffryders anthem....TALK IS CHEAP MOTHER******!

have these people nothing better to. thats just REALLY annoying to hear...corporations spend millions on crap like this..WHAAA COPYRIGHT BLAH BLAH STEALING IS WRONG.....go do something usefull like feed the hungry or help the poor. bastards! the only way they are getting my music is if they pry my cdrs out of my cold dead hands. although i wouldnt be surprised if they found a way to legally justify doing that..cause im a "thief"

Yeah its not going to do shit. Don't worry about it. The RIAA is just way too late.

Always remember this.

If music can be heard, it can be recorded.

Bloody hell

RIAA,when are you going to realize that the war on music sharing is one you CAN NOT WIN??!?!?!?!Go spend your money on something worthwhile, like helping up and coming artists for instance, instead of showing even more of your greed by making futile attempts trying to stop music sharing. You're just showing how greedy you are,and that you don't give a rats ass abut the music what so ever.

That article is close to two years old...

I don't see any barcodes or w/e. Besides, most of us listen to vinyl rips. Not CD rips.

Old article.. napsters already dead.

The RIAA can keep trying all they want, the will never be able to completely stamp out piracy.

Even if i have to rip CDs, and trade mp3s by mail, i will still do it.

something goes here?

quote:
Thursday announced a project to develop a worldwide, standardized system for identifying digital music files so that the owner of a recording's copyright can easily track its use and collect royalties

How do they expect to do this?

quote:
Sherman likened the system to the bar codes on merchandise bought in stores, but instead of appearing in print on the package, the code would be embedded in the digital content. It would include any limitations on the use of the music, such as an expiration in a set number of days

Not gonna work, it will be a total failure. Sure people may rip directly from a CD and get tracked, but if you record the music indirectly, like through total recorder or from a cd player to line in then the bar code isnt passed along.

What does the RIAA think they are doing? Are they trying to disempower music listeners by trying to supress the normal way music gets around and trying to make users pay for it instead? I dont think so.

Surely there are way around anything...well almost anything.

May be they should spend less time on fighting mp3s since they are loosing a lot of money just to implement systems that wont work.

Its just like app and game piracy, its all a bunch of politics bullshit and money money money!

Even if this article was recent, and they did go through with it, people would get around it just like they have been for years its not a big deal.
