Question Normalization

Hiya

Just wanted to ask about Normalizing, I've searched on the net for some answers but couldn't find the one I was after.

When bouncing from Logic should I be selecting normalize on? I have just kept it on Overload protection only.

Right now I'm bouncing down a WAV for a label to master so should I leave it off?

your help is much appreciated

You're sending it to a mastering engineer? Don't normalize it.

Most samples I use i just normalize, makes it a bit louder since bouncing out causes my samples to be a bit quieter.

Well again like what L4C said in the post EZ posted, it has its uses.

Normalising adds quantisation noise unless you're preserving bit depth. You're far better leaving the samples as they are end use the mixer faders within your sequencer - that's what they're there for! "Normalising" is really a useless option and I'd strongly advise against using it.

easy now ,

i said it had its uses if you were an audio noob and you didn't really care about fidelity and you just wanted to make things louder. If you are serious about audio, there is never a good reason to use it.
