Seandroid - Trapped (Progressive/Tech House)

Seandroid - Trapped by Seandroid

Little progressive house tune I did Mix might be off a bit 'cause I haven't had a chance to use my monitors. Apparently the bass is like... the resonant frequency of my house or something because even at an obnoxiously low volume my family could still hear it up stairs.

I wanted to try something different

Let me know what you think.

I think you have done pretty good job with it.

I'm just not fan of short low freq kicks and the bass didn't impress me either but I think there are a lot of people that enjoy a bass like that .

I like the minimal kick going there, really allows the other elements to stand forward with the energy they have. The bass is a bit overbearing, but it works for this type of track! Love the huge reverb. Your very good at creating energy!

I changed up the mix a little bit, the kick and bass are much more intense now. Same soundcloud link

Bass kinda drags a little between 2:10 or so and 2:50ish

I think the breakdown could use some refinement at the beginning especially, to make it more harmonic. The supersaw seems kind of muddy at first when it starts playing the chord bassnotes. The square higher octave synth is a bit overused througout the track I think as well.

Overall great concept and mixdown though.

sounds too polished like the life has been sucked out. Clap is over compressed and doesn't work. Like your other songs , still no groove. not sure why you have such a hard time with that aspect but it is pretty important in dance. drums sound generic and small. Sound design is weak. Bassline isn't really a bassline. would imagine this would clear the floor at any club. The build leads no nothing. Seems like you are getting worse.

Thanks man yeah I was thinking of a few things I could change but I was just fucking around with this one and I don't really have intentions of releasing it. Just wanted try something different.

Tech/progressive house isn't really my forte I admit, I just wanted to try something different. I'm definitely not getting worse lol.

I'm actually really digging this one. Lots of subtlety in the progression. Not your usual stuff. I could hear a DJ switching gears into something a little darker with it. I did hear space for more instrumentation/percussion but I could see leaving that empty, as well. Nice work, sir.

Bit of both for me, trickery wise it becomes a bit a single trick pony, with the same growling vowel type lead/bass, don't like the tjakketjak Tjak snare/clap thingy every 8 measures it slows the track down and hinders the groove. But then again, I like the potential of the pony and recognize that you want to broaden your horizon.

For now i think your more "electrohouse using Dubstep patches" style serves you better ATM. But as with everything practising makes perfect. go for some uplifting soothing patches and experiment with different sound pallettes.
