The History of Dance Music

Found an insteresting Infographic about the history and evolution of "Dance Music."

Thought I'd post it as it could spark some discussions or debates on whether you agree or disagree with what is being shown.

LINK: The History of Dance Music: Infographic

Check it out and scroll down the page.

It began in Afrika-ka-ka.....

Pretty cool read. I think some (the Germans) would argue with Detroit being the only/first country with the ``techno`` badge. I think the back-and-forth betweent Detroit and Germany (Berlin) is where my belief would be, for the origins of techno and I know there are several camps on this topic.

PVD has made big contributions to Trance, but I think that the Dutch have made the biggest contributions, at least in the last decade. Hence, I think they'd be better positioned to have the Trance badge as opposed to the Germans.

i dont think they've meant best representation, but origin by the country, this diagram is pretty cool, and you could tell a lot of work was put into it, but ofcourse its extremely difficult to plot such information in detail...

Techno`s from Detroit.

Techno wasn`t prevalent in Berlin until after the wall came done, years after it had already achieved notoriety in Detroit. But Berlin embraced Detroit and vice versa. Tresor, for example, always booked people like Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills and Derrick May, amongst others, when the scene was first coming up.
