It's official - the Kore product line is discontinued.

not surprised, guy i share my studio w/ has it but never liked it. i also feel the same about arturia's "analog factory", similar concept, very little you can do w/ the patches.

Sorta, but Kore doesn't/didn't end there. If you have the full versions of the NI synths that are represented by Kore's internal engines, you'd have full control over the sounds using the hardware. Kore also works as a sub-host, effect unit, preset chainer, librarian for NI and third party plugins, MIDI controller, sequencer, etc. It's a great concept, but I think a lot of people just didn't "get" it and NI didn't do a very good job of marketing its capabilities, as evidenced by all the "wtf is Kore?" threads scattered about the web.

I had version 1. Never again. Turned me off NI for a loooong time. ONly just starting to appreciate their offerings again now. All that functionality was really the job of the host, and NI didn't understand DAWs at all.

They really lost their way for a while there.

If they drop the price to get rid of stocks, then I'd still be tempted to buy one.

can't say I was ever interested, perhaps because most of the time I was a member of the 'wtf is Kore' camp. as someone waiting to buy Maschine, this comes as good news, with their focus shifting towards it

Funny how it still says 'The next-generation workstation' in the header.

this kinda pisses me off. especially since i was waiting for this thing to be multi-core compatible the way kontakt is now. i love the sound packs i picked up over the years. i love the organization... but it looks like these 'tards are never going to come thru w/the multi-core support.

i'm the 'what the hell is maschine' camp? i have an mpc, i don't think i need that thing, regardless of what it does.

Its expensive. I spoke to them about an EDU discount on the upgrade, as I own K 3 and 4 and Kore 1, but they were still asking for 450 bucks. That seems a lot to me for a plastic controller and an 8 track sequencer, which runs on your computer anyway... For another 700 I could just as easily get a new elektron octatrack, which does similar things but isn't tied to the computer at all.

The entire situation is bullshit. A lot of people are pissed, both on and off of the NI forums.

I also have nothing to buy with the $60 voucher from Komplete 7. I'm gonna hold off a few months on installing it (well, once I get my production computer) to see if they come out with some of the Kore soundpacks for Kontakt...or I'll get the Evolve Bundle....haven't decided yet.

Oh, I know, but thank you for the reminder. It's just that I'd rather wait and see if stuff gets converted out before using the voucher.

I'm still heavily leaning towards getting the Evolve Bundle just because what I was gonna get with the voucher was Sonic Friction and Paranormal Spectrums Kore Soundpacks, and the Evolves may be the best "substitute" for those two soundpacks.

I used my voucher to buy a Traktor DJ bag! haha... The voucher said "The following e-voucher worth $60/50 € to spend on additional KOMPLETE Instruments & Effects." Oh well, too bad, I guess NI didn't realized you could apply it to anything on your shopping cart.
