I personally see them as the same thing, but even if they're not, one similarity is that they require little effort.

I have seen tracklistings for livesets that have some re-edits, and some re-works, something like a PVD set, so I figured they must be different, I know they are subtle differences to a track compared to say a remix. But it would be nice to see if someone has a real definition.

Re-edit is someone's stupid word invention because he/she/they wanted to be different.

I think:

Re-work: when someone re-writes the track itself using his own gear (PVD often does it).
Re-edit: The music's been edited by someone, but it's not yet a remix (and can't be a rework, since original samples are used).

Edits (or Re-Edits) are just shortened versions of current mixes, hence, nothing new, and very little work.

Reworks generally make me think of a track as being extensively redone with many new parts, much moreso than a remix.

I don't know if those are textbook but they seem the most logical explanations...
