Well im thinking of getting the Pioneer DJM-500 Mixer. So what does everyone think of this mixer?

This mixer is simply excellent... great sound quality (not the best but good enough), simply cannot get enought of it.
The layout is just perfect for me, all gadgets are easy to use and so far no problems for me at all. Although it gets heated up during prolonged use, it doesn't seem to cause any 'disaster' as yet.
Others would advise getting the 600... since they have extra effects, like the sampler, auto filter, etc. and headphones spit cue, 3 position selectable fader curve. All these for another $500 extra, depends whether you need all these extras.
Try it out for yourself if you haven't gotten the chance to. And see which suits you better.

You can get a better mixer for the same price ... like the Allen&Heath Xone:32 ... no four channels but way better channel faders (Pioneer faders are REALLY too short for my taste), and no unnecessary gimmicks (ilke the BPM counter).
HORRIBLE sound quality...try not to use these out at an event, it sounds sooo bad.
Perfectly good for home use, and to make a demo with as well because of the effects....
Other than that, stick with vestax...

Out in Vancouver they use that mixer at the plaza of nations. Its out largest venue that is capable of holding around 4000 people. I always thought the sound quality was pretty good, and there is a HUGE sound system at the plaza.

Oh yeah, the 500 has horrible headphone cueing too ...
Haha...seriously, I do not know where the 'horrible sound quality' came from as far as DJM-500 is concerned. But I always felt that with the $$ I paid for, the sound quality is just right...
Yep, I have heard a couple of people commenting on Pioneer's sound quality.
Of course, in comparison with Rane, Allen & Heath, the sound quality of pioneer mixers tend to lose out. But not a lot. But the difference is there. Of course, you have to pay more( or less) depending on which model you are looking for. There is give and take, there.
By the way, there isn't a headphones cue on the 500.

Is the sound quality better on the 600? Its hella expensive and I would assume that they would have fixed any problems.
