thinking about going this year to Detroit for DEMF for my first time. What does a 3 day trip usually cost?


Loving the fact that the 3 day pass for the event is ONLY $70!

A lot of the people in the Chill Out Room go to DEMF every year, so you may want to ask some of them. Be careful, though, it gets dicey in there.

It really depends, I spent $500 in 2010 (I drove there from NY). I really planned it though, bought presales, shared a room with 3 ppl and didn't really drink at the festival (had booze in the room).

Last year I went all out and spent around $1200 (drove again) and shared a suite with 3 friends. Went to pretty much every afterparty and decided to get on the boat last minute, bought drinks for everyone, etc. I don't plan to spend that much this year though.

Detroit is really not as dicey as people think, never had a problem and the Detroiters I've come across in the past 2 years have been gracious hosts to the crazy ravers and very helpful. The downtown area is pretty safe and I've never felt threatened in any way. Further in midtown is a bit more sketchy, but nothing to freak out about, just use common sense. Be careful around Cass Ave though.
