I haven't heard much of his music sets... maybe they are good, maybe not... But I really think that his music productions blow. He does absolutely nothing for me...I cant recall one tune by him that i really like...That tune with st etienne is ok... but i think that is it!!! He is way overrated!!

what are you serious? i dont think hes overrated. but even if he is. hes still damn good! so he cant be overrated by too much. and hes a great producer. you really should check out his sets. then see if you feel the same way peace!

I will agree with Eurotrancefla73 that the music that he produces is average the songs are probly more mainstream , thats why everyone thinks he is the best producer. If you have a look around some of the lesser known artist kick his arrs

but then again... I think this is where the line is drawn between uplifting/melodic trance fans... and progressive trance fans... because i definitely categorize him as being a progressive artist...for he has no buildups.. his tunes are usually on the same level all the way through making his tunes boring... WE need buildups.... pauses... and take offs... We dont even need a pause... A simple buildup would do..

well of course build ups are the shit. but i dont really like to listen to the same music all the time. i dont really like progressive. so if hes progressive then now i think hes even better than i did before. but i dont think he is. he may be mellower than what you like. buy didnt you say you like uplifting? i think his style is pretty much uplifting.

ok i take some of that back cause he just doesnt stick to one style of trance. which is good. but i just think most progressive is pretty boring and i dont think his sets are boring.

no i think your definition of progressive and mine are two different things... Progressive is not uplifting...for it stays the same tone/pitch all the way through the song...Uplifting is exactly how it sounds... it lifts you up to another level!!

Shame / Disagreement what the fuck am I hearing? lol

Ok your entitled your opinion, but back the fuck up. Be careful were your going with this. PVD is the god of angel epic trance, granted his newer production stuff has been more toned down, however it is an acquired taste, and let me tell you, that album was meant to be played fucking loud. If you hear those tracks live, which fortunately I have, they are incredible.

As far as him being progressive, not really. Maybe more progressively, but that is trance man. Now before insulting the hand that feeds you understand that Paul Van Dyk live is incredible. You can't describe how he manipulates the crowd. The experience this guy has on the wheels is incredible.

You can distinctly recognize the bass control this guy has, not to mention how you have to pick yourself off the ground after about 5 mins. PVD at a rave fucking blows the roof off man. You have to see him to understand. My friend said the same thing about him and his production style then I found myself scooping him off the floor with a shovel. lol

Out there and back is not the definitive trance album of the century, but be careful who your talking about. Our founder if you will. lol

Like i said.. I never heard any of his sets.. but i have heard his productions and they are very average... In fact I have his vorsprung dyk technik remixes 92-98 and it blows!!! So i guess i can say i dont even like his music selections.. I guess its a matter of taste... but to each is own.. The only tune he had on there that was decent was bt- flaming june.. which im not big on him either..Download some airscape, armin, or vincent de moor, and u may change your mind..And if you dont like them.. then it is definitely a matter of taste...for they are in a different league!!!!Name one tune by paul van dyke that is a 10, for i can make a list for the artist i named..

no my definition of progressive = boring. i dont think PVD is progressive by any means. i dont consider progressive to be uplifting. and correct me if im wrong cause im new to this shit. but i think he produced another way. which i find to be very uplifting. and not all uplifting trance has build ups. its not a requirement. uplifting is a feeling a song produces. and didnt he produce tell me why? cause thats another quality song.

agreed. uplifting usually means awesome buildups and stuff but when you look at it bare bones, it's a track that makes you feel really awesome and high. hence uplifting. but then comes the issue of different types of trance blending and mixing...that gets messy...hehe.
