But, I've heard that there can be some noticeable and annoying latency when running across a network. I'm pretty sure that L4C and probably DJ RANN have used it in that capacity, so they can probably offer better advice. That said, those synths shouldn't be choking a modern CPU, so I would thinking that updating your computer would be a better option.
BTW, I'm not familiar with Magnus Choir - is it sample-based? |
Synth/Sample according to the site. It's not EW by any stretch, but it's great for the oohs/ahhhs.

I originally had this problem with zeta 1 but the upgrade/64 bit jump 'fixed things at the time. I recently discovered the joys of multi-layered string patches and the oversampling on Zeta2 results in absolutely glorious noises combined with the Jup8, but we are now back to core spikes. It's definitely a distribution problem from what I can tell by the cpu monitor. It could be the Jupiter in 32 bit causing the grief, but even then, that leaves little room for reverb. I use 'ReaVerb' in Reaper which is supposedly efficient for an IR with the Briscatti impulses. Sounds fantastic, just can't use it in this application.
Generally my setup has been flawless and any 'normal' project I dream up maxes at like 70ish% of CPU at most. But these string/high osc-High polyphony stuff is killing it outright. It's not that I have all of it running simultaneously either, but when the decay/fades between synths start happening, it's choke city. and again, that's before reverb even enters the picture.
This seemed like such a cheap hobby too...(snicker)
Reaper has a V5 like function but latiency makes it unusable for this purpose. Many have tried on the reaper board.
Edit for clarity - The patches themselves use associated bits of Zeta/Jupiter/magnus reverb, I was referring to external/after the fact reverb.
