My first Song

Hi guys,
I'm 15 and I love making music and synthesizing sounds.
Today I finished my first complete selfmade song and I need your opinion and some advise on where and how I can imporve.
I listen to many different types of music, mostly Techno and Hardstyle and some time ago I started searching for some trance music and fell in love with Anthem/Uplifting Trance. The deep sounds and the melancholic and yet powerful chord progressions made me feel very happy and gave me the final kick to finally sit down and make a complete song.
As said I wanted to make a progressive trance song but I think I was too much influenced by techno music and so a fusion between techno and trance came out, don't know exactly how that type of music is called.

So here it is, hope it came out well:

I listened to some of the linked tracks here and feel embarassed a bit. My track doesn't have anything complex, no LFO modulated pads or ambient sounds etc. and not good sound quality. Sorry if I posted here as unprofessional musician but I really need some feedback to be able to sound like a pro after many more songs.
I noticed that the Lead is a bit too loud while listening to it on Soundcloud.

Btw I sequenced the song in FL Studio as it is very easy to handle and made all sounds on Sylenth1 except for drums (I used Fl Studios samples for them).

You shouldn't be sorry. We all started somewhere.

Yea your lead is way to loud.
You should also put your kick and bass in mono.
I think you brought the lead in way to early, and try using a filter and cutting off the highs and slowly bring them in.

Really hear a hardstyle vibe.

Goodluck

it's decent first attempt, so don't feel emberrased

additionally i'd recommend you to work on the bass pattern... that offbeat bass is a classic, but a little out of date...try layering two different bass sounds (high and sub [later maybe more]) playing different patterns... you will learn what works and what doesn't...

keep it up...

Well it's got a perfectly decent hook melody so the heart of the song is there.

I would think about your structure, Julz is right, the lead arrives too early and overall, it's too short. Definitely needs a break down and a 'middle bit' (as I call it) where you can develop the texture of the layered tracks

Maybe try playing with the ADSR envelope on your lead (amke a copy of the track first) - the transition as you move one or two of these makes for an interesting progression in itself (cutoff and resonance and good try this with too) - small moves are the key when messing around with this stuff I find.

I would think about developing more indivdual tracks to give more to play with when building and developing - although it is easy to write too many!!.

Way better than my first attempt!! Although to be fair, I did only have a Yamaha DJX and a beat up old Atari ST with a dodgy cracked copy of Qbase that was loaded from a floppy disk!!

A

Thank you for all the answers, when I have time this days I'll read trough your advises again, listen to some trance music and work on the song. I'll upload a reworked and better mastered version of the song and hope it will sound already a bit more professional.

dude, everyone starts somewhere. the fact that you're 15 means you have PLENTY of time to figure stuff out. the secret is to keep going, to keep that passion alive, and to continue making tracks that you think are really worth something
