I don't know why you'd want to leave orion or fruity etc. out (because they are professional products, just because they don't have a hefty price tag means nothing)... for a software studio you can't beat them. I hate it when people say something like fruity is a toy because these comments are made by people who do not know how to produce. "The software is the problem, not me." If you really must, you can use cubase as your sequencer "because it's professional", but I'm telling you, there's no difference. Why would I use cubase when I can do the same thing 100x faster and easier in fruity, and end up with the same result in the end? If you have to add A LOT of hardware to your setup with some complex midi setup cubase is obviously a better choice, but if you're using software you might as well use a more integrated solution. But whatever... I hope I get flamed for this, just shows your ignorance, not mine.

Anyways, to answer your original question (with fruity, orion, storm, reason, etc. out)...
Sequencer (all include mixers): Cubase, logic, massiva, sonar, ACID, etc.
Drum machine or drum sampler: DR-008 or battery, dr-008 is better according to many ppl... you can even use fruity as a VST for drums, which gets my vote
Synths: too many to list... lots of amazing VST's out there
Samplers: Kontakt, HALion, etc.
Wave editor: Sondforge, wavelab, cooledit
And that's about all you need.

lol i never meant to leave them out form the users, just asking a question. how would a studio be made out of software. excluding software studios. i m curios, didn't mean to diss those programs.
cause usually if i had asked the same question without putting reason, fruity etc on the post. most people would have answer reason.fruity, orion and i allready know that. i was just corius to know more software that does the same kind of stuff as the racks on reason or the other software studios. so chill out man.
