Toronto Transit makes me sad
I keep thinking it's going to get better, it's going to get better. Then I read of all the proposed and failed projects from the last 50 years. The plan of this generation which was funded, and started, was stopped. Now the newest plan is being challenged.
Things are looking up though with the opposition to Ford's plans growing and the new release of the independent legal opinion today.

I would leave Toronto because it's Toronto.

Ah...no. If you actually live in the city, its a pain in the ass to get things done. Have you seen Bloor during rush hour? I would stab somebody if I had to sit through rush hour traffic everyday.
Financially, healthy wise, environment wise, cars are not an option for me.
My one week in Germany completely spoiled me.
Why can other countries (even 3rd world) get their shit together and build fast, efficient and cheap transit? How is it that we have fallen so far behind?

In related news - TTC finally retired the last of their H4 subway cars from the 70s. The last one to retire gave TTC 35 years of service and was the oldest running subway car in North America.
Try taking the subway from kipling to old mill. It's the worst at the beginning and end of my trip to the downtown core.
Even the new subways I noticed today, doesn't seem to relieve the massive amounts of people on the yonge-university line. I had to wait 4 trains just to get to Yonge/Bloor.
Good thing I was patient today....

Nah man that wouldn't help one bit. I drove to work last thursday cause I was running late and I got there even later than if I just took the bus+subway. Getting around, whichever way you'd want to, is a nightmare in this city.

^^^^^ this. You would leave TO bc of the TTC?
What's the problem? I totally would. Lucky for me I work evenings so I avoid the morning and afternoon rush.

Time to move closer to work (if you can afford it).
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if part of whats fueling the condo boom downtown right now is to be able to avoid commuting.

As much as I like Montreal, I think I'd be driven insane by the sheer mass of douchebaggery like this that exists there, if I had to spend more than a week in that city.
