and that is how you don't treat a room for monitoring. Good for a practice room, but all he did was add cheap foam that gets rid of all the high end. The result is a dead room. Not a treated room.
it really isn't rocket science. You need a microphone, test software which is free. Do a grid of your room. Take measurements of each grid. Now you have an idea of how your room sounds at many places.
I knew you would chime in with your captain obvious attitude. The point is to just show the drastic difference. Of course you would use a proper setup as you described if you were treating a room properly.

the point of the video is irrelevant. my comments pertain to the reaction of a particular marsupial that thought that was sweet. And the video is called room treatment. This term treatment is more abused than any word i can think of. It isn't treatment if you are randomly putting foam in your room.

well, it's pretty obvious that putting foam up will have an effect, i personally know zero about this subject, and my friend is treating a room right now that he plans on recording drums, so l4c's input is good. it is an all together interesting video though.

the thing is that the concept of treatment if so misunderstood. People will spend 500$ on panels with no idea on what the room needs, I've seen so many studio pictures of walls covered with useless 1 inch foam. The thing is that it really isn't that hard. You need a 20 $ mic to take the measurements, the software is free. There are step by step guides.
