Dunno Finally after months of work I'm calling it a day with this track. What do you think?

I have spent months now working on this track and I have realised that I need to move on from it. So here it is, the finished version.

Please let me know of what you think of it so that I can work out what i need to improve on for my next tracks.

Cheers,

MH

Well dude, it seems like you have a pretty good idea of how a trance song is put together. But the EQ issues are pretty bad. I honestly think you should invest in a new pair of headphones, you'd be surprised how much difference that can make. But you're leaps ahead of where I was at when I was your age, so keep going.

Thanks. And at the moment, headphones are going to have to wait because I'm $250 in debt and wanting to buy some decks and speakers to earn some money DJ'ing. And yeah, I'm working on my EQ'ing with my current tracks.

Honestly. Don't. Do not do this.

Spend the money on new speakers and headphones, after you pay your debt. Then buy the decks. But you won't make any more money DJ'ing than you will producing, at this rate. And please, stop being such a monumental try-hard and pay attention to something other than yourself.

I agree with EZ. I bought decks when I was 17 or so and though I learned how to mix on CDJs, 6 years later I have never once had a need to DJ mix on them. I should have learned to produce first instead of waiting several years after I started DJing.

Focus on production first! Any well known producer can become a DJ, in fact, basically only producers become DJs now.

It's not really about that. I think any producer who DJ's - even if it's only in their spare time for friends or by themselves - has absolute advantage over one who doesn't. There's production insight you glean from spinning tracks that you just don't get producing without. I wish I still had my rig. It wasn't anything more than two turn-tables and a Gemini mixer but I learned a lot using it.

His thinking about producing as well as DJ'ing is completely fucked - that's my point. The chances of him getting a paying DJ gig are astronomical. In the meantime, he's going to continue to produce muddy tracks that aren't up to par because his monitoring situation sucks. What's worse is that he's not going to be any better off DJ'ing with the same shitty headphones he's been using for production.

Evolve isn't the first person to raise his monitoring issue with him, either.

Well, I agree with that for sure I just meant practically speaking. He isn't really listening to advice much.

I honestly don't think he ever has.

Ofcourse I have, I'ts just that I take the advice when I'm ready to. Like now for instance, I am now working harder than ever to avoid muddiness, however It was already too late with this track to fix any errors, It was to ruined.]

Anyway, since taking people's advice, I have gone from this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j_UJ9W_RtU
To what you've just listened to. But in the end, I find that I learn better by taking advice when I feel ready to.

Btw, seeing that everyone is saying my headphones are crap, what is the most basic/ cheapest pair of headphones you recommend I get.
At the moment I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 418's http://en-de.sennheiser.com/hd-418

Im gonna go against the grain here Mike and suggest you should make DJing your primary concern. Life doesn't happen sitting in your room producing tracks try to play out as much as possible it'll help your productions immensely as well
