Your overall experience with Trance back then, and now

Hi all.

I'm making another thread out of sheer curiosity from your guy's perspectve. I just wanted to ask:

What was Trance like when you first listened to it, and then secondly, what was it like when you REALLY got into it? What was your life like? Was it life-changing or really inspiratonal?

Now, how do you view Trance as currentl as of today? Even if you are a modern listener, gateway era listener, or classic era listener, how do you feel about this genre back then and how could you compare it with yoursef now?

Basicallly, reflect your Trance experience!

I'll tell you mine. I used to think Trance was the best music in th world, and nothing could ever beat it. I used to NOT be be able to survive without 1 day listening to a track. I used to have the best moments of my life when all of the GOOD songs felt so new and amazing. Trance just overall used to be so euphoric and uplifting.

Nowadays, it's not like that anymore. The gold charming feeling feels so plain and bland now, even after "trying" to get back into it, and trying real hard, but it's just lost its magic for me. I know almost every single layer or sounds, and I know the exact melody and structure build of a lot of songs. It's kinda like I already been there, done that, and it just feels a bit weird trying to trick yourself into liking songs you may be tired of.

I even quit listening for months straight yet everytime I hear it again, it sounds the same and here is nothing new or refreshment even after like half a year or something

Most of the mental mind visualizations are gone, such as picturing a certain scenario during a breakdown/drop moment.

same happen to you guys? I opened an embarrasing thread a while back on here, oh silly me. that was when I thought Trnce was the best music in the world

Trance was like this when I first got into it:

10 years later, it'd turned into this:

Not sure how it's changed in the 10 years since then. I'm afraid to look.

Obviously, because nowdays edm's got disasters like Paris Hilton, Afrojack, Guetta & etc

I started listening to trance somewhere in '03, and those days were completely different in comparison of what's going on now. And all the DJ's from that era [who still continue doing their thing] changed [unfortunately to bad] as well - you know who the best example is.
But as any other kind of music, and every other aspect of life, there's always a change throughout the years, people change, new generations come & etc. there's still some good stuff in trance, though

This is what happens when you only listen to one style of music.

Hey J, how's it going? Yeah, for the last 4 years straight I was only listening to Trance. The more I listened the more I understood and went back into the older stuff.

If they kept making Trance like the older stuff I probably wouldn't have stopped. I became a glutton and finally got out of it. I used to listen to all others genres before Trance though. I guess it was all just a phase?

And although I regret bringing this up, all the E I took while having the listening experience was all a sick fantasy that I sadly enjoyed.

Listening to any one style for years on end is just going to result in burn-out. Broaden your musical horizons, and you'll come back to trance with fresh ears.

I've chased "Trance" the feeling or experience, not the genre so that has led me through many styles of music including the Trance, progressive trance & house of the mid 90's to early 2002.
