Are You A Button Pushing Fake DJ?

OWNED!!!!

---------------------------------------

In the beginning there was the DJ
The DJ built the groove
Felt the groove
Mixed the groove
Two turntables and a mixer!

The DJ was your conductor
He was your guide
He was your Guarantee that you were going to lose your mind

But somethin’s happening to all that
All this hype
All these gawwwd Damn — lap ——-top DJs
Every mother fucka is callin themselves
A Deeeee Jaaaay

Just cause you got yoself a laaaaaap top
Don’t mean you’re a Deeeee Jay.

Get the fuuuuuuck out

Lemme tell you, you’ve got to mix with your ears
You learns to mix with your ears
You’ve gotta watch the floor
You’ve gotta pick the right tracks
And you’ve got to build the groove

Not with wave forms
Not with sync buttons
Not with the latest mash-ups or gimmicks
Not with the latest programs
You’ve got to build the groove
With two turntables and a mix
But what they don’t understand
Is that you pay your price
You earn your spot
You get your shit right.

You got to get it right

We’ve gotta spread this truth
Of all these button pushin
Fake ass
No mixin’ fake DJs

It’s just gotta stop
We gotta STOP!
THE FAKE DJs

We gotta STOP!
THE FAKE DJs

Take your pre recorded
Button pushing
Fake ass mixin
Bullshit

And get the fuuuuuuck out.

Fake ass DJs
Everywhere I look I see a bunch of fake ass DJs

Now this isn’t a dis to the innovators
You’ve just got to respect the architechs
The originators
Like Larry Levan
Frankie Knuckles
Juan Atkins
Derrick May
Kevin Saunderson
Eddie Folks
Jeff Mills
Derrick Carter
DJ Sneak
Doc Martin
Louie Vega
Kenny Dope
Danny Tenaglia
Francois K
Tony Humphries
Carl Craig
Joe Claussell
Timothy Regisford
Danny Krivit
Farley Jackmaster Funk

We are getting a point where people are just becoming bitter that you can do things easier now than you could even a good 5+ years ago. That's called evolution of technology, people. Get over it.

The future of DJing isn't about being able to properly beatmatch, but being able to program and make your sets your own style. The appreciate of old school DJs will always be there, though....but times are changing and they can choose to accept it, or be bitter. Up to them. DJ booths more than ever are being pulled away from the crowd, as the DJ is now the "star" of most nights, where the DJ booth is up high, front, and center (unlike the old days where the DJ booth would be up in the corner and out of the way of the crowd in venues). Crowds can't even see what the DJ is even doing that well overall.

Note - if your set is pre-recored altogether, that's a different matter.

"Owned"? More like "bitter", as Dave T said.

If someone has an ear for music, and an ability to read a crowd and adjust accordingly, and the ability to manage the energy level throughout the night, who cares how they get their sets to come through the speakers? Vinyl, CD, MP3, whatever. Use whatever you want.

I don't see how people can watch a DJ play, love the music, love the set, but stand there with their arms crossed going "Nope, I'm not gonna let myself enjoy this because he's using a laptop". Get over it.

Are you kidding me!??

Of all people to be talking shit, it shouldn't be burger boy sneak.

I saw him twice in Miami this year nearly ruin a party simply due to him sucking and! not knowing how to beat match on cdj's.

I'd rather see/hear a dj that can properly use the sync button and build and program an amazing set than the dj's from the vinyl years who would fade in and out of tracks by cutting the bass. Those people used to get gigs all the time and they either faded away because they sucked or got better.

Now a days it's all about marketing. Whoever has the biggest marketing machine will get the most gigs. Talent is no longer #1.

Intense marketing will get you in the door but if you don't have talent you won't make it very far.

And that's why a lot of DJ's rely on Ableton/Traktor (with sync) and preprogrammed sets. Take them out of their comfort zone and they don't know what the hell to do if their life depended on it. I've seen it a lot of times. That's one reason why many DJ's now a days play the same set over and over and over again.

No.

There are tons of talentless people regardless of genre who make it far.

Marketing can do it definitely.

We should all have landlines and use rabbit ears to watch tv. This is why our environment is going to shit, cuz everyone wants to stick to what they think it cool like gas guzzling "classic" cars and gas powered engines.
Get over it, technology is here! There is no point in trying to ignore this!!!!!

"But vinyl is the only way! It's so cool."

I get what people are saying, but they need to just let it go. Especially Sneak. STFU dude. No ones wants to hear you bitch endlessly!

Him and his fans talk about marketing that gets other artists fame.... Has no one realized that this is all a marketing ploy to get Sneak fame????
