Gather 'round, all mid to late 90s GU-owners, gather 'round!







Remember when these guys used to play trance? No? Well, I do. It seems like labels remember as well, as tons of the old tunes these guys played back then are now available digitally. Therefore, I decided to use that as an opportunity to make my own recap of some of my favourite tunes from those years.

Now, obviously, this period was dominated by Sasha and John Digweed, who were trendsetters back then instead of the trend followers they are now. So with this set, it was important for me to avoid most of the obvious tunes that these two played to death back then (although you will certainly find two or three that will be familiar to anyone who listened to their sets). Whether I was successful or not in doing that, well, that's up to you, the listener.

Some disclaimers:

* Yes, I know the mix into Beyond Centauri is a mess.
* Yes, I know that not all of these tunes are strictly progressive trance.
* Yes, I know that not all of these tunes were released between 1997 and 2000.
* Despite the "progressive trance retrospective"-tag, this set is more about the approach and sound of that era, and less about the exact tunes and genres.
* This is MY retrospective based on MY tastes, so don't get mad if one or more of your favourites from these years aren't in here.
* I wouldn't expect anyone to bother listening to both parts for 4 hours straight in one sitting, so I've structured both parts to function as cohesive sets seperately.
