I want to buy a digital SLR camera. I know nothing about them. I actually kinda fear cameras at least when they are aimed my way.
I want to spend under 2000. Not sure about second hand markets and also wonder where does the middle ground between shit, and something that is overkill lie. I also have been wanting to get a video recorder as well and perhaps I should just pay for a nice video cam and use frames from that. I don't care about size. The smaller something is , the odds of losing it increase exponentially.
I also want a wide angle lens so my girlfriend will fit in the pictures.
Are there any options that are sort of no brainers ?
The first thing I'd try is using the search function to find one of the many threads posing this exact same question that have been made over the past few months.

already did a search for camera for 1 year. And since i have budget and intended use ie non professional fucking about taking pictures of shit and the odd snuff film, I thought the experts could guide me in the right direction.
Aim for either the Nikon D5100 or Canon 650D with a twin lens kit. Both cameras are pretty much identical to each other feature-wise and sit perfectly in the midrange group.

Pretty much this, although I have to say I really don't like either of the kit lenses that come with it. I'd probably buy the body by itself, and spend the remaining $$$ on better lenses, but that's just me.

Yah, unless you are going high end on the body, any kit lens is going to suck (I love the "kit" 24-105 f/4.0L that came with my 5D lol).
Most would argue that you can go for pretty much the most entry level consumer Nikon or Canon body and spending the rest on a decent lens is going to make you way more happier with your photos.

I've been meaning to give you shit about the quality of your photos for a while now, taking studio pics of thousands of dollars worth of gear with a shitty camera phone has a certain irony to it
Anyway all I can contribute really is get a camera that can save images as RAW, you probably don't need to spend anywhere near 2 grand though, I guess it depends on what you want to shoot
