Tonearm problem [Technics 1200]
Just got some technics SL-1200MK2 and one of them seems to have a problem, I think I've narrowed it down to the tonearm and not quite sure how to fix it. When a record is playing, the needle (if looking at it from the top) will move to the farthest right of the stylus and plays fine for that amount of time but then it jumps back to the center creating an infinite loop of around 10 seconds of play. Not cool, lol
I've tried about 3 different needles with it (Stanton Trackmaster, Trackmaster II, default technics one) and they all do the same thing. However when I use the other turntable, it works fine with all 3 needles. I've changed the weight/balance settings to be the same on both tables and while one plays fine the other has that annoying problem. I managed to get it to play right by applying a bit of pressure physically to it and moving the stylus over when it looks like the needle is about to go back to the center.. but that solution isn't very viable. I'd like to find out how I can have the turntable do that by itself :P
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
