Ok, so I apologize for asking something that may have already been asked a bunch, but besides Beatport and somewhere that'll mess up your computer...

Where do you all recommend going to download the latest and generally just great trance, house, etc. tracks online?

You've been registered on here since 2004 and you're asking this noob question now. Do you not know how to search? Seriously

Teezdalien, yes. I've been on these forums for quite a while.

Was interested to hear some current comments from folks on the topic. Have any helpful resources?

Polt, thanks for the thread link.

Well in that case, there's not much I can suggest that isn't in that thread Polt's pointed at. There's really very few trance releases coming out that appeal to me these days either. I dunno Audiojelly may be a good start. You have to dig deep for good trance though with many of these sites.
edit: I use Junodownload a lot of the time.

I hear what you're saying.

After many years of collecting vinyl, still enjoy it, I've decided to check out these wonderful "new" things called CDJs and digital stuff in general. I still like my Technics but you know...

Sometimes I hear something from say Tiesto's podcast and go a searching. That usually is a hard find, but sometimes. There is so much out there that on a lot of these sites you start looking for something and end up finding other tunes.

I've collected vinyl for many years and am currently getting really turned off CDJs and all the digital mediums with rampant piracy and the amount of mediocre tunes being released in many genres due to the ease of access to production software etc.
Really feel that it has cheapened the profession in many ways, I still dig but these days for me at least finding real gems is occurring less frequently. Maybe I'm just turning into a cynical, jaded old **** though.

I remeber the days when one had tunes no one else could even come close to having.

Now I laugh, people come to me and say "Shit dude listen to this tune!!" and I it's always something from beatport top 10...

damn it's so hard to find unique music, and also it's super difficult to have tunes no one can just have.

I also miss the looking for years for a track and the thrill of finally discovering it.

I get the feeling some think that they are the only ones that know about beatport.

chewy dragee, I agree.

While the tunes that are played are definitely a huge factor. It seems that nowadays what can separate one from the other is not who has more downloads (because like you said, who can't go to beatport and download whatever they want), but the actual DJing skills. Novel idea, right??

The reality is, imo, is that most people are not going to have access to the latest Tiesto, Armin, etc. podcast tracks. I wonder if record pools are still doing well?

Interesting topic I think here.

I've stopped giving people tracklists for my sets.

I really search my ass off for unique tracks that no one has and i'm not prepared to just give the track info to people.

Call me a selfish bastard if you wish.

I suppose the rampant availability of tracks is also why there are so many producers around these days (Not just the ease of access to production software). If you want something no one else has, make it yourself.
