With its lyrical inspiration focusing on the bitterness of an insular, introverted character who lives out his frustrations in the virtual world of the internet, “Black Room Boy” is driven by the vocals of Above & Beyond’s own Tony McGuinness – who penned the song’s lyrics – with the familiar tones of Richard Bedford adding a second layer in the chorus.
