Tiesto @ Ultra XV 2013 Weekend 2 Day 1 Main Stage Recap (Prediction)
Tiesto opened his set with "Levels", followed by "Maximal Crazy" and "The Harlem Shake". Booos rained from the mostly young crowd since anyone with any sense had already gone to the Carl Cox tent. What was obviously apparent was Tiesto’s lack of awareness as he seemed to be enjoying the insults being lobbed in his direction from Ultra crowd.
A voice reverberated from the sky saying “I AM TIESTO!” As heads began to turn upwards, the music came to a halt, and once again the voice from the sky declared loudly “I AM TIESTO!” Suddenly, through the clouds a parachute appeared. It was evident that the frail, bearded and tattered looking man with the megaphone in is hand was the one making the declaration. He was flanked by his loyal tour manager Kelly.
The crowd was stunned. Frozen. Incapable of making a sound. Paralyzed by what was unfolding in front of them.
As the parachutes landed, Tiesto pushed the other Tiesto away from the decks, and grabbed the microphone. He began, stating, “I am Tiesto! This is not Tiesto. I was abducted near the end of my Kaleidoscope tour and held captive in a CIA black site somewhere in Poland. Thankfully, Kelly came to free me and now I must put a stop to this evil man pretending to be me.”
He continued, asking “How could you, my fans not realize???! I mean, 'Musical Freedom???' That’s even too gay for me, and I’m Dutch!!!” Who did this to me, you ask? Well, I was the #1 Trance DJ for years. I was the only person who stood in the way of the #2 Trance DJ. His jealousy and desire to become #1 drove him to kidnap me…”
And with that, Tiesto approached the man dressed as Tiesto and pulled off his mask.
“… that man is the one, the only, the legend , Armin Van Buuren!”
The crowd gasp in unison, cell phones held high.
Armin spoke into the microphone as Damian Pinto approached him to escort him off the stage “It is true, it is true. I would have never become #1 had I not abducted you and tried to destroy your legacy. Had it not been for your meddling tour manager I would have succeeded too. Damn you Tiesto. I am #1!!!”
With that Armin was dragged off stage mumbling incoherently, and Tiesto, the real Tiesto, took his rightful place behind the decks and played what will be called the greatest Trance set in the history of Ultra.
The End
