Road from Mac to PC..and back

Dear Tranceaddicts.
I`ve been working(and i use that term very loosely) with a friend of mine who is proud mac user. Meaning ableton live and everything has mac written all over it. Now in the beginning i thought to myself "Surely there wont be any problems by sharing stuff from my PC and then working on his setup on it"; well i was wrong.
Z3ta+2 sounds that i made wont work at all on his set up, massive wont work when going back to my PC, doesnt matter what i save from live (.fxb or fxp) because nothing happens(it opens it but then squat). SO basicly anything VST related doesnt function very well. Now i know i could freeze tracks or record them to audio tracks...but the idea was actually to be able to continuously fine tune inside the Vsts along the way and so on.
So the question is: Is there some magic may to make it work?
A friend of mine said "install mac on a partition or sthin", but ive done some research and its not the easiest thing to do it appears.Cos im not buying them apples.

Well thanks alot in advance!!

Zomg

I just recently bought my first Mac notebook and picked up Live for both the Mac and my PC desktop so that I would have a cross-platform sketch pad. So far, I haven't had any major issues, although I've only shared a few projects between the Mac and PC so far, my project files have been very simple (by design), and I haven't used many third-party plugins. I've been wondering how far I'd have to push a project file before I might start having issues.

I suspect that software used on both platforms would perform a lot better if the official latest versions were downloaded and installed on both machines.

It's a pain in the ass that you can't load a Windows-made track with a VST on Mac and automatically substitute the AU version of the plugin if you have that installed (and the other way round).
