Scuba (Hotflush) @ Slammers & Bangers - Skream & Benga Show, BBC Radio 1 (17.05)

Connecting the sounds of techno and dubstep (there is no mutual antipathy there to take a pun on his debut album), Paul Rose aka Scuba is one of the pivotal figures on the triple B axis of Bristol, Berlin and bass – running Hotflush Recordings in Bristol, controlling the Sub:stance night at Berlin’s Berghain club, and bringing plenty of bass in either case. Unfortunately, with Hotflush having moved to London, we will have to give up on the nice alliteration but, thankfully, none of his music. The label is still putting out essential records by Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison, Sepalcure, Roska, George Fitzgerald or Scuba himself. Speaking of which, the label boss has remixed the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Fever Ray, Vladislav Delay or Emika, just to name a few, as well as found time to nourish his SCB and Spectr monikers.
