Audiu.net Beta - get reviews of your tracks (currently free)

http://audiu.net/

These guys are currently running a beta version of their site where you can register and have your tracks reviewed (free ATM)

I haven't had a review back yet but the person who has been assigned to do my review is an "audio professional" (after a bit of googling)so looking forward to it

I'm not a cynic. I think that exploiting clueless newbs for cash is a great way for them to make money and it's something that we should all be doing. Countless newbs are going to pay $10 or whatever to get advice from an "audio professional", ya know, because, by law, nobody can start a label until they are certifiably awesome in all areas of music production and composition . And in return, newbs get to feel all legit and shit. It's a win-win situation.

Know what you mean, does sound like a good idea, kind of thing id like to do in the future

BTW there also looking for people to offer feedback (you get paid during beta testing too apparently)

Ill report back when i get my first couple of free reviews

When its free you got nothing to lose, im always open to peoples opinions and i think its worth a try.

The guy whos doing mine is a massively more experienced and accomplished than i am (i know that doesnt mean much)!, so personally ill be happy to take on board any ideas, just depends on the level of detail and the amount of constructive, specific feedback and suggestions.

I don't see anything wrong with the idea of paying a professional for advice. I mean solicitors have been doing it (and not always getting it right) for centuries.

The reality is that you'd need to be looking at a figure of about $50 or more for even a brief written response. To listen properly and give accurate and useful advice would take anybody an hour or two.

Anything less than that is pretty much useless for both parties.

I looked at their demo song and the review was not much more than what you get here...for free.

"You're hats are too bright!" "Needs more compression." "Breakdown sucky."

If they can articulate what to do to make your track better, than by all means it could be worth it, but to just pick at your track is not really worth paying any money.

So what if that track is mixed perfectly? The track is just one long boring loop.

Most of it is mixing advice anyway, which I don't really consider complete at all. Everyone has certain influences concerning arrangement and writing, and if they can help you get closer to your goal then that's a good thing, but I doubt they will do that.
