What are yours?
This is just MHO, but I think it's because Trance is easy to like. The first time most people hear a good Trance track, they like it right away. Techno, jungle, and some types of House take a lot more "getting used to" for a lot of people.
Things that are more "acquired" tastes seem to gain a lot more respect on the whole. People think that having an acquired taste for something makes them elite... that you need "brains" to be able to enjoy something that needs to be "acquired". By rejecting a genre that is "easy" to like like Trance, some feel they can reaffirm their self-appointed role as an "elite" music listener.
Trance is as complex, if not more, than any other type of electronica.
When the truth is, they really love Trance and they're in denial! "Oh no, if I admit I like Trance, people will think I know nothing about the scene! That I'm a newbie and not jaded enough."
Yep, that's it, they're in denial
It's like how some of the most homophobic people turn out in the end to be gay (it's true!).
Then again, this is just another one of my talk-out-of-my-ass-rationalizations to try to get me to comprehend how anyone could hate Trance...
Blah, I'm not gonna try to MAKE anyone like Trance... I just wish that if people hated it so much, they wouldn't have to put so much effort into bashing it. To each their own right?
I LOVE TRANCE. I like it hard, I like it lined with 303s, I like it progressive, I like it Techy, I like it Psi and Goa, I like it dark, Epic, and of course, I like it melodic and cheesy.
If the degree to which someone likes Trance is supposed to be inversely proportional to their intelligence and class, then I should star on Jerry Springer. <-- lame joke, forgive me I need sleep!
