Foobar2000 for those looking for minimalistic players.
Mediamonkey for everyone else, has a host of excellent options for dealing with large music collections and the player is basically the same as winamp 2.x and is compatible with winamp plugins. Also comes with milkdrop as standard.
Clementine works too but is better for different platforms.
I've said this in MD as well but in i see all these topics of people raving winamp simply for third party plug-ins that are by no means exclusive. It hasn't been a relevant piece of software for like a decade now and the only reason i see for why you would still be using it is simple habit.
