I'm self taught, but I guess doing a course would be useful. I'd suggest you get your mixing skills up to a fairly decent standard first, because paying heaps of money to learn to beatmatch would be a waste of money IMO. I don't know much about the course, but wouldn't a DMC course be centred around scratching? I guess if you're interested in scratching it could be useful (but scratching and trance is an oxymoron IMO).

Nah, the AMEB should introduce it to their practical examinations section. LOL, I could be:
DJ Dowlz A.Mus.A. (Pianoforte) L.Mus.A (Turntablism)
But maybe not. Cause only PVD etc could get L.Mus.A. since it's stands for Licentiate which is (at least in piano) international concert standard, which in this case, I guess means huge dance festivals?

Just a dj'ing question then to keep with this thread. Is it cheating using all the melody and quiet parts of tracks when mixing? Is this just the easy way out? It seems to work pretty well all the same.

when I clicked on this thread I was thinking "who the fuck is DJ Course" ??
and the person who said trance and scratching is an oxymoron obviously hasn't heard DJ Jean - Live @ Trance Energy 2002.
He plays the "fart mix" of PPK - Resurrection

Yep, I haven't listen to DJ Jean @ TE2002 I shall have to have a listen to this one. I take it he scratches it to death?
Grrrrr, Resurection. Fricking Russians - they can't even spell properly (or was it Oakie who made the error)! Mind you, the Luna Park - Space melody (Full Moon mix) was a very cool remix (or did it come first, I can't remember).

I would love to do the course that WETmusik runs. Taught by the man himself - Will E Tell. I don't know much about DJing, but I know that man has great techniques.
Scratching and trance? Two words... Master Kaos... (ok... maybe that's hard trance... but it's still good)

hmmmm i dunno about that. i'm not really a big fan of scratching, although I admit I've hardly heard much of it being done. I have the dj jean TE set, and I've heard master kaos play, to be honest it gets on my nerves after a while. but then again i like joyenergizer so yeah...
