Hi guys

ive got 2 kicks layerd together, one mono, deep, failry long analog stlye kick

another stereo more organic sounding kick which is trimmed to be very short

as the 2 kicks play over a 1 bar loop i can hear them going out of phase in that there are slight subtle differences in tone, and also the stereo field is affected

Why is this?

both kicks are roughly in phase (ie starting in a similar position) Maybe this is not enough and i need to experiment with the beginning of the second kick?

I dont see how 2 kicks starting at the same point will be out of phase to a slightly different extent each time?

Or maybe its something else? Only very subtle but it will annoy me i know. kind even hear it on my headphones which is also wierd, speakers only

Is one a synthesised kick?

If all else fails, use channel delay to move one about a bit (few ms) until it sounds right, then render the pair as a single audio file.

there both samples

thats i good idea, just bounce them out and choose the one that sounds the best

only prob then i will lose control of them as separate entities

try reversing the polarity on one of the kick samples

phase at that frequency is more complicated than lining them up. You can try a an all pass , eq , pretty much any tool that will slightly change the phase but i would really just pick another sample. Even tools like in phase , honestly, i think it would be much quicker to just use another sample.

you can also change the phase by sample with most daws , basically, shift the sample by 1. ( sample ) if you really need that kick, and then chop the bit that is causing the phasing issues. But ya, lots of work.

quite strange if they are phasing over the course of 1 bar - no effects at all on the kick channel??

yeah they are bussed together with R Bass then bussed again with the sub and compressed together. No more fx than that - it is strange. Will have another look in the morning

both kicks are re triggered every time
