Hey mate,

Below I write my personal opinion on your track. I hope you can take critisim. (Which I hope is the reason why your posting here; to get an honest responce).

First off, you have some good ideas in your track, and also the structure is fairly good. (Maybe trim down the break a bit)

But the track has some serious issues with the mixing. Just curious, how long have you been producing? and what are you listening through? (headphones, monitors, comouter speakers etc).

Regarding the bass-elements. The kick at the moment is kind of "floppy", it needs some more attack to it. As well as more freqs around 60hz to give it a bit more punch. The bassline seems mostly to concist of a sine-sub bassline. But it doesn't bring much to the table. You should try a more groovy bassline, or at least a more driving one, perhaps with an offbeat sub-bass. I've just listened to some of your other tracks on soundcloud, and you have some good ideas on the basslines, so try and put some of that goodness in there. The freqs on the bassline is a bit off as well, it doesn't really have any balance with the kick. But since I mentioned the problem (in my opinion) with the kick, you take a look at both togehter and see what you can do.

However, the kick and bassline is somewhat of the smaller issues. The overall mixing of the track needs work. The Lead/Pads/Hihats etc is WAY to loud and drowns the rest of the track. A really good tip (that I always stand by with clubby type of music) is using the kick as the point of reference to the rest of the mixing. Start by having the kick at standard level. Then mix in the bass. And go from there. Since club-related music is heavly dependent of the solid bass of the kick and bass, it's important you have that part sounding good first. As you go along mixing the rest, be sure to keep your eyes (and ears) on the volume (and the master-volume) for each element you bring in to the mix. So nothing distorts and go to the "red zone" of the volume-meter.

Lastly, the track needs an overall redo of the mixing. Until then, it's quite hard to judge the rest honestly, since it's quite hard to hear due to alot of distortion etc.

Anyway, I hope you take my points with a smile! Keep it up mate!

/Dave
