DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2013
I'm pretty sure anybody accustomed to the EDM world has heard of the top 100 Djs (and Producers) poll. They have recently have released the 2013 results to the world. Here's a link to it for those who haven't seen it:

For the most part, it turned out pretty much as I suspected; Hardwell takes up the #1 spot, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike make a humongo leap into the top 10 section of the list, Gareth Emery falls back 37 spots from #14 to #51 after he told his fans "Not to vote for him", and so on. But there were a few things that really had me surprised, and, for some people, might really make them wonder about the legitimacy of this poll. Here are a few things that just don't seem right in the new top 100 Djs poll:
MAT ZO FALLS BACK 21 SPOTS ON THE LIST
Seriously, this guy should have JUMPED up 21 spots! he has released really successful singles like "Easy" and "Pyramid Scheme" and has recently dropped a bombastic album into the EDM world. Why down 21?
PAUL OAKENFOLD DROPS 23 SPOTS ON THE LIST
This doesn't really have me too surprised, but his new ranking seems a little out of place. He released so many "Vote for me" campaigns and has released a new album, too. If you've been keeping track of the previous polls by DJ Mag, you've probably seen how Paul dropped several spots in the poll over the last few years, probably just because he's "old" and not so new anymore. I expected him to fall back a few spaces, but not that many. Hmmm...
BL3ND AND TANASHER MAKE THE LIST....
This is probably what had me surprised the most. Bl3nd got voted in at #91, and Tanashar at #87. Really, these two DJs are, like, the worst DJs around, especially Bl3nd. Bl3rd just sounds REALLY bad. The fact that he has a song called "Hi Mi Name Is Pim Pim Pim" says it all. And Tanashar, that "model DJ" as everyone calls her, really isn't that good too. There are several other female Djs that are way better than Tanashar; why did Tanashar make the list, and not them?
...AND A-TRAK DOSN'T
The fact that A-Trak isn't on the list is so obvious that it hurts. He's released several successful singles and EPs, he's had collaborations with other huge DJs, appeared on the cover of Billboard alongside Diplo and Skrillex, who both made the Top 100 list. He's been heading the record label "Fool's Gold" for years, and is one-half of the humongously-successful label "Duck Sauce" who has a #1 Billboard hit with Barbra Streisand, not to mention how many gigs he's been playing the last year. Why the darn heck is he not on the list?
DIPLO FINALLY MAKING THE TOP 100 LIST
If you've seen the list, Diplo has got himself a position for the first time at #64. But frankly, I'm a little confused as to why he's missed out being on the top 100 for so long. He's one of the underground EDM scene's biggest names, and has had several releases over the past few years. Just doesn't make sense why he made it this year and not, like, three years before.
ERIC PRYDZ NOT MAIING IT INTO THE TOP 50 SECTION OF THE LIST
Eric Prydz dropped 2 spots in this year's poll, from #52 to #54. For most people, they may hardly notice, but this ranking caught my attention. Eric's podcast has been doing better than ever, and his personal releases have really scored big. And I'm sure you've all heard of his remix of M83's "Midnight City", which has perhaps become on of the most popular remixes of the year. All of this should have launched him up into the top 50 section. But down 2? It just doesn't really make sense.
DAFT PUNK COMES IN AT #22
Now, I'm not saying that daft Punk are bad DJs (or whatever they are); on the contrary, they're one of my favorite artists. But why are they ranking so darn high? If you haven't heard, they had sworn that they wouldn't tour at all in 2013, and have kept true to that promise. But the fact that they are still on the top 100 list, at #22 none the less, is pretty strange. Sure, there new album "Random Access Memories" did really good, and "Get Lucky" was a great song. But no touring and they move up to #22 on the list? Something just doesn't seem right here...

Well, those are the most "suspicious" rankings that I've seen in this year's poll. It might make you wonder if DJ Mag just tweaked the results just a little bit...
Another thing about the poll: it seems that, over recent years, the DJ Mag top 100 Djs poll has turned more into a Top 100 Producers poll. As Deadmau5 said, Djs now are just "Producers in disguise". The last DJ that was on the top list that was "just a DJ" was Nic Fanciulli, who finally disappeared off the top 100 list in 2010. Nobody seems to vote for Djs for there DJing skills anymore; people will vote for Martin Garrix (#40) for one hit single and not James Zabiela for a lifetime of DJing. Just goes to show how the whole Electronic music scene has changed over the years.
