They have it, they could start selling it tomorrow. Even the modular G2. That is actually what annoys me the most. They have nothing to lose by selling the modular as software. IT appeals to a different crowd than their NL2 which still sells.
clavia and waldorf are two companies run by fucking morons. It is really fucking hard to believe they are German.
With so much analog stuff coming out I wonder what could Nord bring out that would get people to purchase??
Maybe something like Access's Total Integration?

I wish it would ahppen but if they have any business brains, they will NEVER release the software.
It's what single handedly killed waldorf; the released all their hardware synths in easy to pirate editions, and it sunk the company within 18 short months.
All the Virus synths are nothing more than software running on expensive dongles. There's absolutely nothing about them that couldn't be a native AU or a VST, but Access understand they'll all be unemployed if they ever release a softsynth version of their hardware. The total integration is purely a another form of Software protection as you have to have hardware to make it work.

they have already released the G2 software. You get 1 voice. I mean it makes no fucking sense. And the model is discontinued with no plans ever to bring it back. Its just a different crowd. Most vst collectors won't know what to do with it but those that enjoy such things will pay. It truly is one of a kind. And it sounds as good as the hardware if you run it at 96k which you can even in the demo.

Well, I get it when the item is discontinued but different manufacturers have differnt takes.
When I was speaking to Bob Mogue, he didn't give a shit that his classic synths were made in to softsynths. He actually told me that with premium grade converters and a nice signal chain (all thing being equal etc) there was no difference between the minimoog software and the real thing thing in terms of sound. Might also be because he lost the use of his own name for 20 years and didn't get all precious about it.
Other manufacturers, like to preserve their "legacy" and their historical brand image by keeping discontinued items as hardware. It keeps the second hand market buoyant for those items and gives them prestige for existing models.

there is no fucking way he really deep down felt they were equivalent. I mean the implementation of their oscillators is just awful. I'm sure he felt flattered. I 'm sure he received some duckets to line the pockets. I don't know. Maybe he was digging the 500 hz. I mean how old was he ?
it was cool at the time. They have really done fuck all since.
And clavia , people that use modular synths are more like academics. They share. That is just the nature of the community. It is just odd that they still have the demo which is fully functional and sounds as good. I've made a comparison as I have both the g1 and g2. Well the g2. G1 is using a different engine. Basically the g1 is using the NL2 enginer, G2 using the NL3. People that are into modular synths are older , nerds and buy stuff. They aren't the preset downloading sylenth kin. There is no overhead. The code is completely done. Fuck give it for free. I mean they have nothing to lose.
I just ordered the dsp expansion for both. Reaktor is just not fun. I mean it was way more powerful but it is just so fucking tedious. The clavia modular concept was one of a kind. I can't believe they would just let it fade away.
add stereo to their nord drum. lol. What a piece of shit. Seriously. A drum synth where you can't automate parameters on the fly. I think everyone that used to run it is now dead. The wanker department with their pointless revisions on their keyboard units is running the show.
I remember they invented the first drum triggers or at least the one that people used decades ago. It was a huge deal in terms of modern recordings in that people were getting sounds that nobody could figure out because they concept of layering was still in its infancy. They used to so far ahead of the curve.
Now I'll always prefer Sylenth1, Massive and other new goodies!!! Well I still love the Virus sounds and would like to have one of the real analogs like moog Little Phatty and DSIs...
I'll not buy any Nord synth anymore...
