Ziptnf - Auditory Calculus [mathematic psytrance]

This mix was originally supposed to be something else entirely, but I deviated from that position when I simply couldn't find any psytrance of those styles that I liked enough to play in a set. So I am back with another "chapter" of my high tech full-power psytrance series with a second mathematical submission. You can find the first one here: Fractal Geometry.

I named this one after calculus because calculus is confusing, and so is my flow and some of my mixing decisions. The first half blazes with highly technical and mathematical glitch and sequence work. The second half blisters with full power night psy. Just like calculus, it's kinda weird, but it makes sense if you think about it.

Twilight - Bass Walk [Airglow]
Digital Tribe - Sweet Dreams (Gemini Remix) [Goa Crops]
Psyrabbit - Get Crazy [Zombster]
Mind Control - Interzaptor [Trance Gold]
Azax Bliss - F_cking Bass [Nutek]
Azax Syndrome & Bizzare Contact - Summer Anxiety [Mainstage]
Ultra Sheriff - Deception, Oil & Laser Beams (Blastoyz vs Sokrates Remix) [SectionZ]
Biokinetix - Ultra Magnus Style (ft. Echo Logic) [EDM]
Khopat - Full Encoding [Hypergate]
Zinx vs Echo Logic - Crazy Nun [Terror Lab]
Brainwash - We Have the Power [Fractal]
Magneto & Brainwash - The Trip [Hypergate]
Zetno Project - Necrovision Last Battle [Speedsound]

Ziptnf - Auditory Calculus (71:17) 164MB ~320kbps

Enjoy!

Hmm, kind of a bummer, I was hoping this would draw a little more attention. Has anybody listened? If you plan on it, take your time but a little worried this one will get buried

So I enjoyed bits of this, other bits less and some bits I liked but felt guilty about it (that Deception, Oil & Laser Beams track put a smile on my face but it is very silly).

This kind of full-on high energy psy isnt necessarily my cup of tea these days, but this mix does have a certain infectious energy to it and the choice of tracks has enough variation in vibe to keep it from being too monotonous.

The mixing was generally very good, although I will say that there were a few occasions that the fader and eq work could have been a bit better (Im writing this a few days after listening so can't remember specific examples). Nothing major though, and its perhaps that this style of music is a bit of a pain to mix completely smoothly. Certainly nothing interrupted the flow of the mix.

All in all an enjoyable journey through a style of music that I don't listen to that often and one that was a fairly good soundtrack to my morning workout. Nice one

Haha, yep pretty much how I feel about it. Not my best mix by far, but I think it's pretty fun. I couldn't help but put Deception, Oil & Laser Beams in there for just some seriously ridiculous music. I think my favorite track in the mix is the collab with Azax Syndrome and Bliss, that one has a great melody toward the end. Also, I dig the Brainwash tracks in the back half. But yeah, the mixing was not on point, and I didn't want to re-do any of the transitions. I feel like it was a good sequel to Fractal Geometry but nothing amazing.

Thanks for the listen!!! I've been dying to get to yours, I will probably be able to hear them this week while I get through the pile of emails I ignored at work last week

Hi Zip, nice to see you are still making psy sets!

Listening to the set now, lets see whats mathematical in it :P :

- Not really a fan of the first track as it sounds generic. Nice transition to the next track. Not a fan of that "funky" melody. Sounds a bit uninspired. At 11 min though it is the parts of full-on I like - it always works wonders on the dancefloor

- Interesting transition into the next track - its cohesive with the previous one too but again suffers from the same minuses. Just sounds a bit uninspired and a bit trying too hard. But in a party, it can make me dance!

- 18 min sounds different and I like the direction as it gets more of my attention. Some tasty cheese at 22 min . I sense the increase of speed coming with the next track! Ready to roll!

- At 30 min it feels that it gets more psychedelic! Me gusta. Not a fan on the melody at 34 min though and after. The dubstep part at 39 min is defnitely a no-no for me

- Gets solid around 51 min!

- I liked more the latter part. Had some more psychedelicy tracks.

Mixing overall was excellent! Thanks for share!

Oh goodness Mag, I didn't want you to listen to this!! The first half is packed with so much cheese you might become lactose intolerant after this. This was a fun mix for me to do primarily because it satisfied all those high energy silly tracks that I needed to get out of my system. You definitely overanalyzed this one lol. You might have better luck listening to Fractal Geometry (check the link in my original post) in terms of finding psy you like. I only named this after calculus because my flow and track selection is definitely confusing. I'm kinda bummed that you listened to this!! This isn't your thing at all and I could have told you that and prevented you from wasting an hour of your time lol

Hey Zip, its ok haha. True that I didn't like it very much especially compared to other sets of yours but it was not bad as you describe it yourself . I was just putting my thoughts while listening.

But mostly I was happy to see that you have posted a set in the forum in my first visit to TA in many months. I will check the other suggestion too.

I'll be checking this set out some time over the next week. I got about 40% of the way through but ended up having to do something else but i did like what I'd heard so far. I'll give you a full overview of my thoughts so.

Also hi Magdansky! Nice to see you still post. It's good having a few more active psy listening posters about. I will definitely be eagerly awaiting any sets you make if you're still mixing.
