Question about "punk"

yea you know what im gonna ask about...

ok, for those who doesn't, in 2001 i heard "funk einsatz - punk" and i thought it was amazing!

but when i bought the promo of "ferry corsten - punk" some beeps and the DIGITAL PUNK robo vocals were added as well as everybody's heard...

so why couldn't ferry just call them "vocal mix" and "dub mix" instead of using "funk einsatz" as the "dub name"? i know there's gotta be other threads about this, but still i can't find it!!

so could any 1 send me a link?

thx

I can't tell you about any other threads, but I hadn't heard that there were differences between the two versions...I just assumed the versions labelled "Ferry Corsten" were mistakes...are there actually vinyls circulating with that name in place of Funk Einsatz on the sticker??

My understanding was that the promo was labeled Funk Einsatz - Punk, but the official release, which did not include the original promo mix, was Ferry Corsten - Punk. Hope this helps.

It’s all to do with money. Ferry Corsten released a small circulation of Punk under Funk Einsatz, realised people would like it and buy it so slapped his real name on it to raise his profile and rake in more £££’s.

That's not entirely true (although this might be one of the reasons). As far as I know Ferry first put out Punk under Funk Einsatz as a promo, in order to see the people's reactions. When he knew it was gonna be a huge record they released the track under his own name, Ferry Corsten. But he probably did this not only for the money (although it would sell better with his own name as the track producer instead of Funk Einsatz), because Punk will be on his own artist album which is (if I remember correctly) set to release in the beginning of 2003. This way he can easily put Punk on his own 'Ferry Corsten - The Album' instead of using the Funk Einsatz guise.

That seems kind of silly if that's what he did since most people knew that Funk Einsatz was Ferry from the previous "My Dance" release...

I guess it doesn't really matter *why*, Ferry has a long history of using aliases, which I'd always heard was so he could release more things in a less obvious way (ie: have several singles out at the same time) which doesn't make much sense for the Funk Einsatz thing, since he hasn't exactly been flooding us with new tuneage lately...

I bought it too, and those vocals are stupid. I think I wasted money because I was duped into thinking it was the version PvD was pimping all the time.

here is your question answered, by ferry..

Q. Whats the idea behind all the various aliases you produce under, why have you now chosen to use your real name?

A. Before I had my label Tsunami, I had all those aliases for various reasons! When I started Tsunami I kept some aliases to give my label some various artitsts! And now since eveything is up and running really well, I reduced the aliases and started to work under my own name to link eveything (Productions, remixes, DJ, compilations)
