Anyway thanks for sharing the tip. Basically you can use any sound in a track, that makes it obvious that they're out of sync. As soon as you got them in sync liten to it as a whole thing and find out, which part sounds odd...

hmm i dont understand. Sorry quite new to DJing. Could u explain again to me pls??

it's just easier ti hear two fast 1/16 HiHat lines coming off sync (as it soon will sound all choppy and distotred) than hear a little phasing of bassdrums. Plus there's way less bassdrum in a track than hihats.

But same works with fast percusive melodies. Basically any straight rythmical line that's faster than the 4/4 beat of the bassdrum.

Man, you'll get to a stage when you start listenig to the whole thing rather than just certain elements of the track. I know i don't really listen for anything anymore, I just listen. It almost becomes instinct

I've only been djing for like a month but I've always been listening to the whole song and not just part of it (like kick or hihats) and It most certanly helps

especially since some songs have more distinct hi hats and others kicks etc. so when you mix a distinct hi-hat with a distinct kick it get's hard if ya can't use the whole song to mix with (hope you understod me there)

this is actually a very good point, because the bass is not 100% reliable, especially in large, reverberating areas like clubs. that's why your hihats etc. are your best bet..

but like the few ppl above have said, eventually you'll just be listening to the whole thing, and will notice if two tracks are out of sync just by instinct...

yea, i do that to, listen to the whole track

but when i was starting out, i would just listen to the basslines
then my friend told me about this and my learning curve took off

it helps the ones that are starting out

yup.. when you guys can finally get passed the whole beatmatching thing, you will be able to create better sets because you can focus your attention on the songs you want to mix and be able to experiment more with different transitions because (and you more experienced dj's should agree w/ me on this) you'll be able to beatmatch in seconds and you will be able to end up testing out many tracks to find which one you want to mix in, instead of taking half of a song to even get the beats to line up and then deciding u don't want to play that track.. practice makes perfect but i'm glad to see people posting tips that they have figured out in this forum, after all thats what this forum is for..

dj_shockwave - i give u props for sharing this information in a way as to teach instead of brag.. too many people here are quick to say things like "yah thats what i do" or something along the lines of letting everyone else know that you aren't sharing anything new. if more people would share revelations they have and techniques they figure out this forum would be much more informative.. too often the only information on technique here comes from answering questions, and many people are afraid to ask in fear of seeming stupid or lacking experience, but when people like dj shockwave share tips just for the hell of it, many people benefit even if they don't reply indicating so..
