It's a plague!!!! :(
Yeah, this is very, very, very popular here, specially in Rio de Janeiro (hence the name ). There are plenty of sub-genres like Rio Tekno-funk and Rio Comedy Funk 
When I read Ishkur's description I was like: "OMG, he was there!", because in Rio slums, this is exactly what you see... it's really sad However, we shouldn't generalise it, since there's no problem when they play it at clubs and stuff. The problem in the slums has got more to do with their social problems than with the music itself.
If you want, I'll try to get some Rio Funk for you and send this weekend. Also, I'm preparing a more complete version of Ishkur's guide and I'll add some Rio funk there.
PS.: Don't worry if you don't understand the lyrics - I don't understand most of the words myself

jaja, the funniest ones are the porn-obscene songs. Those lyrics crack me up. We have the same thing going on in Puerto Rico, I don't think it's a big deal, just part of urban culture.
