If it weren't for the popups there would be no way to finance bigger & better hardware to handle an ever-increasing forum load....

Edit: There is only *1* popup that comes up per session when you browse the forums, it is not horrendous.

Maybe you should consider making a "tranceaddict pro" membership.

those who what to, can pay you some money so they don't get any ads, banners and pop ups and some other things (don't know what that should be), off course it would mean that you should make a lot of changes to the forum, but it's been done on one of denmarks biggest websites, and it seems to work.
