Ten years of Beatport sales stats by genre

http://mixmag.net/feature/industry-...-beatport-stats

Deep house is #1; dumbstep is about to receive the final nail in its coffin (shocking, I know).

That one sorta surprised me. I don't follow BP or genre trends really, but it did seem to me that people have been talking about deep house a lot more lately. OTOH I also keep seeing people claim that it's a dead genre. Based on that sales trend, it isn't like it's undergoing a sudden resurgence phenomenon - it's been growing steadily for nearly 10 years.

Where I live mostly all the trance fans have converted to deep house. The scene has alot of support in Miami and gets big in wintermusicconference.

I also don't follow trends either or BP but the craze for a deep house fix is really high these days.

Just listened to the current top 10 Deep House on BeatPort (http://www.beatport.com/genre/deep-house/12) ... reminded me a lot of this skit:

Matthew Fox on SNL - Deep House Dish from Jor on Vimeo.
