Binaural Mixing and Pannning

I just started messing Logic's own internal Binaural Panner. I'm interested to know what that type of instruments are enhanced in the mixdown by the process (sorry for the poor wording)

For Example online I saw a 3D primer sheet on everything goes in the soundfield but it was for Pop music. Is there something similar for EDM?

Thanks in advance.

Its cool that you want to learn about this Juan, but you gota practice more music theory! I feel like you got the production down steady. Do some jamming, you and your midi keyboard

To be honest, I am guilty of neglecting theory myself. Im going to go jam out now, bye

Yeah i know but I want to improve my mix downs even further. I know theory practice is key to my success but i like fun things first.

And RANN links don't work. How about some of your in depth knowledge like where does subbass go in 3D circle or leave it untouched? I know you know.

What are you talking about? all the links in the treads work except one?

And sub is omnidirectional so where you do think it goes?

Surround sound.

Hello,

Paul,

Yes, it's an interesting subject. What would be perfect is getting knowledge from experienced people.

It's used a lot in media recording, on location and indeed
by the hardware industry who make headphones and racks for
say Dolby, who have entire customized hardware for the
production of binaural.

There are, like you say, different emphasis put onto the timbres
and soundscape that reflect the listeners pleasure. Essentially
what you are doing is messing with a blank canvas of "space"
and area...a domain. INto that domain you introduce reflections
of sound and build a framework of how your panning works with
bands of layers of sounds.

What is being made is a super/stereo elevated field of directional
sound. The listener, over time, begins to experience the sound in
a much more intrinsic natural way.

One really can be using common sense here. The DAW;s all seem
to have some relation to it. It's present in many forms and
ccan be "hidden" as to how often it's put into real paces and used
as a production technique.

If you want to hear it at work, there are albums (CD's) by the band
OSI (office of strategic information)....or something like that.
The band holds TWO ex members of Dream Theatre.

The albums are available on pleer.com

best wishes,

V
