Question Tranceport 1 Controversy

OK its been a couple years that these rumors have been circling around.....and if u havent heard then now u hear it.

First let me say...I HAVE ALOT of respect for oakenfold..and yall on the board know me as a huge oakenfold defender. GREAT dj etc...

BUt someone told me..on tranceport one..he mixed the cd with a computer program..which caused its masterful flow and ease from song to song. the near perfect mixing was tooo perfect.

DID He have a program digitally mix the cd for him?

one more thing...MATT DAREY's euphoria series..were mixed by a program.

he popped the tunes in and the program did the work for him.

great mixes..level 3/4 were great.

but as far as tranceport 1?

bru it doesn't matter. that cd is probbile the best trance cd ever made. you cares if it was mixed by a computer or whatver. listen to the music for what it is. all the MoS cd are mixed by a computer. i know oakenfold is a good dj and that his mixes are perfect, i seen him live. the computer was probally used to give it a more profesional feel.

Most mix CDs are done on a computer nowadays... it's not talked about a whole lot but that doesn't mean it's not happening. Global Underground compilations, for instance, are almost entirely mixed digitally. Does that diminish the DJ's skills? No. There are thousands of DJs with technical skill approaching that of superstar jocks. The ones at the top got there because they play tunes that the rest of us might find out about months later. Besides, these DJs know where they want each track mixed in, they know how they want it to sound and they know how to achieve it. Do we need to make sure they can still beatmatch? Nah...

i don't care what anyone says, this cd never made it for me, you can tell it was mixed using a computer like most of the mix compilations out there. Sounds kinda stale.

However, Tiesto cds say 'live (or studio) turntable mix'. He has said many times that he hates how stale mixing comes out when using a computer. And then you look for minor flows in ISOS

granted from how he transitions from the one remix of someone into the other, I'd say it's computer done...may not be, but I think it is. Most of the other tranceports are.

regardless- you all act like there is some magic computer where you put in 12 tracks hit 'create' and a masterpiece like tranceport 1 or GU013 comes out of the cd drawer. yah right.

sasha no doubt worked his ass off for the GU. IF oakie mixed tranceport 1, then it was prolly live, and edited to perfection or something. if it was done on a computer, he prolly had one of his underlings do it.

still, WE arent making cds at a record pace with this magic program, so who cares? late|

I remember Matt Darey saying he uses CDs to mix his albums. Most DJs use Pro tools and other mixing programs. The CD isn't live, it's meant to be listened to at home so the mixing should be done as good as possible. I know Tiesto makes his mixes on turntables though and sometimes DJs will have a studio mix CD such as the 2nd cd of Transport 4 (Max Graham).

I think Paul Van Dyk's politics of dancing CD is too perfectly mixed to be mixed by van dyk himself. i beleive he used a computer. Listen to that cd and keep in mind that a computer mixed it.

as for transport 1, i dunno

by the way, listen to Carl Cox - mixed live at crobar (this is a real cd) it has really good mixing and is definately not mixed by a computer.
