So I've decided to finally go with uad and have 45 days to pick what plugins to purchase. Anyway I don't get it until tomorrow but I'd like some ppls take on what plugins are really worth buying. Most likely getting the shadow hills and fatso but there is too many options lol. I've been researching and besides that avb uad stuff there isnt much useful info that I've found about uad and dance music.
So I was under the impression the 224 would make me sound like every producer from the 80s,really?
Good old ta responses haha.
Thanks evo I'm interested in those as well but will prob wait to pick up the pultec collection when it's on sale. I'm considering the ampex but also the studer. Have u tried both or just the ampex? The emt looks interesting but I'm looking at the ams. The emt should be apart of the upcoming top 10 sale next year so will prob pick it up then also. I want to culture vulture but looking at the instance chart it will have to prob be printed often and removed. I believe I read
4/8 on instance chart. Have you tried out the Manley passive?
Anyone else want to chime in?
Rann? Richie?

I have a uad 2 octo with nearly every plug available....
are you buying a custom bundle where you pick any three for free? in that case you want to pick the expensive plug-ins because there's no limit. I'd grab the Manley Vari-Mu and VSM3 for sure and then another plug that is expensive that you'd like.
The AMS16 provides the 80's sound much more so than the Lex 224 IMO though I know thats when it was popular. The Mk2 collections are all incredible (Fairchild, La2A, 1176, and Pultec).....
i'm personally not impressed with the new api channel strip and neve 88rs channel strip but i don't have ua unison pre's to fully utilize the plugs so consider that. Are you getting a pci/firewire/thunderbolt setup or going with an apollo?
Keep in mind you get to demo every plug for 2 weeks for free so my advice is demo everything and decide from there

I've actually purchased the Apollo twin with the 10 bundle most I could get besides purchasing everything. I was thinking of going with the satellite custom but figured thunderbolt would be better I was thinking of getting the most expensive ones but not sure if that's the route to go hence the thread. Not many uad users on here it seems haha. I was actually joking about sounding like every producer with the ams. Was in responce to pretending to sound like Trevor horn lol. I don't think I want to purchase something on uad that is also native. The shitty part that no one mentioned until after I made the purchase is that you have 45 days to pick or apparently uad picks for u lol.

I didn't know the AMS was available in Native? I'd be surprised if it's as accurate as UAD emulation. So you get 10 choices? If it were ME starting over from scratch and i had the unison pre's, I would take the following with my pick 10 bundle:
you can get all the mk2 stuff for pretty cheap when they give $50 coupons and have sales. You already get $100 off the base price to make them $149 since you've got the MK1 versions.

Sorry meant the vsm3, that list is close to what I'm thinking minus a few. What's your take on shadow hills.

no.1 rule on buying UAD plugs - never buy anything at full price.
I hear that. I was kind of upset I didn't buy sooner because I missed the semi annual sale in June lol. Playing a bit with some demos and wow this really is musical hardware crack. I may be pretty broke come this Dec and sale next summer haha.

Shadow Hills is one of the few I actually have not purchased because I refuse to pay a premium for it. If I can ever get it for $50 I might buy it, but I feel like it offers nothing that I can't already achieve with other UA plugs. I strongly suspect UA pulled their code from the 33609 to model a big part of the Shadow Hills comp.

youre gonna need a lot of discount to see that for $50, its a fairly new plugin
